Rebuilding El Paredón Buena Vista
Earlier this year, a devastating fire tore through the coastal village of El Paredón Buena Vista, Guatemala. Homes, small businesses, and surf shacks were destroyed — leaving many families without shelter or income.
Edgar Guillén from Christian Surfers Guatemala, a long-time friend and local leader, reached out to Groundswell Aid for help. Edgar has been faithfully serving the local youth and surf community for years, creating opportunities and sharing hope through surfing and discipleship.
How Groundswell Aid Responded
Thanks to the generosity of our global community, we raised $1,315 to support Edgar and his team’s relief efforts during this time of urgent need.
Together, we were able to provide:
- Building materials and tools to help families rebuild their homes
- Food parcels for those most affected
- Mattresses and bedding for comfort and recovery
A Word from Edgar
“On behalf of Christian Surfers Guatemala and the people of El Paredón Buena Vista, thank you.
Your support helped us start rebuilding our lives. We’re deeply grateful.”
— Edgar Guillén
Hope on the Horizon
While rebuilding continues, the community of El Paredón Buena Vista stands strong in faith and unity. We’re inspired by Edgar’s leadership and by everyone who gave, prayed, and shared this story.
