Fernanda is part of Aleph Surf Baja, a project that uses mentoring and outdoor activities like surfing and rock climbing to help young people grow in faith, confidence, and purpose.
She’s a 21-year-old gastronomy student from Baja California, Mexico, with a clear dream to finish her studies and become the first in her family to graduate from university.
We’re supporting Fernanda by raising funds to cover one full year of schooling, helping her continue her journey of education, growth, and faith.

Her Story
Fernanda grew up in Sonora, Mexico, but her family moved to Baja California about nine years ago in search of better opportunities for work, education, and a new life.
She lives in La Misión, a small, beautiful village surrounded by hills and overlooking the sea. While peaceful and inspiring, it’s also a community with limited resources, few job opportunities, and economic challenges that make pursuing higher education even harder.
Through her local church, Fernanda got involved with Aleph Surf Baja. She joined activities like climbing and surfing — even though, as she says with a laugh, she mostly rolled around in the waves!
What stood out most to her wasn’t the activity itself, but the community: people encouraging her to step out of her comfort zone, grow in her faith, and believe in herself.
“Six of my family members never had the chance to finish school or go to university.
I want to be the first to complete my studies — to make my family proud
and to show my little brother and cousins that it’s possible.”
For Fernanda, studying gastronomy isn’t just about learning to cook it’s about becoming skilled, professional, and confident, and using that to serve others through food, hospitality, and love.
The Need: $3000
We’re raising $3,000 USD to cover a full year (12 months) of Fernanda’s education about $250 per month.
