Groundswell Aid

Groundswell Aid a ministry of

INCREASING SWELL

Ever wanted to be able to increase the Groundswell on your Surfline, Windguru or Windy app for a better forecast? Sadly that is not possible in real life, Today for Groundswell Aid you can!

You can become even part and join the Groundswell to increase the impact of what is happening around the globe.

Groundswell Aid is a vital ministry of Christian Surfers that originally exists to uplift grassroots projects, which we carefully vet and select to be part of our platform, ensuring support goes where it’s needed and where it can have long-term impact.

As alongside supporting these grassroots projects, we’ve been able to contribute more and more to the wider mission of Christian Surfers, supporting emerging nations and existing communities through a growing global network. We’ve come alongside new Christian Surfers leaders like Steven from Sierra Leone and a new crew of dedicated surfers from Madagascar, providing surfboards, Bibles, water filters, and giving ongoing support. Not to lead, but to strengthen what’s already happening on the ground.

Sometimes the need is immediate, like last years fire that devastated El Paredón in Guatemala, we were able to respond quickly, supporting the local team so they could help their neighbours with food and basic needs in a moment of real crisis. That’s the kind of response we want to be ready for and is a great fit for Groundswell Aid to serve the leaders of our beloved Global Christian Surfers family. The challenge is consistency.

When support is uncertain, it affects how quickly we can step in and how many leaders we can support. As more Christian Surfers communities continue to grow globally, and more projects arise, the need for a bigger community is necessary.

Monthly giving makes it possible to be ready to act and able to sustain the mission.

We need 25 x new donors who can commit to $20 recurring monthly giving

We would love to invite you to join Groundswell Aid and to help generate an impact in the places where help is needed the most.

What happens when ‘the swell’ grows?

When more people join monthly:

  • Our core costs are covered, keeping everything running
  • More funding flows directly to projects
  • We can respond faster in times of crisis
  • More communities receive support, mentorship, and development
  • We move at the speed of trust

We move at the speed of trust.

When trust is built we can move fast!

A good example is a previous fundraiser we ran in collaboration with ‘Surf Church Collective’, to support Arfaith, who is working with ‘Surf Church Ayoke’ and Christian Surfers in the Philippines.

After a typhoon hit in November 2025, we came together, assessed the need, and created a simple plan and reporting agreement that would enable real practical help in his local community. Arfaith sent me a short report of the situation, we set a target, mapped out a communication plan, and we pushed it forward together.

By partnering together we were able to act quickly, promote the fundraising campaign widely through Christian Surfers and reach many people with this great cause and the urgent local needs. Together, we raised just over $4,000, which covered the rebuilding of 20 houses. Groundswell Aid empowered the local community to access the resources they needed and rebuild themselves — which you can see in the photo on the right!

Arfaith and Melissa Miranda were on top of their game when it came to reporting back on finances and progress. This is key in our partnerships. We don’t need a full, complex funding plan; it can be simple, as long as we build relationships and maintain trust.
