About Hope House

Hope House Mauritius is a project led by Andre and Yvette Holl, working at the intersection of community, opportunity, and practical care across the island.

Their approach is simple and hands-on: showing up consistently, building relationships, and creating spaces where people can grow in dignity and confidence. Through surf mentorship, swimming lessons, skills training, and food security initiatives, they walk alongside children, youth, and families in very real and practical ways.

From the ocean to the community gardens, everything is rooted in presence, not programmes from a distance, but life shared on the ground.

Our Goal

We’re aiming for 50 monthly partners giving €25 per month to help sustain Hope House Mauritius so Andre and Yvette can continue to uplift families, build opportunity, and grow lasting impact in the community they serve and love.

Programs by Hope House

Andre and Yvette are all about empowering young women and men, if it’s through sports or skills training, it doesn’t matter. See down below their programs they run, it is amazing to see the growth of local leadership and ownership in their programs!

Carpentry program

A hands-on workshop where young men are trained in carpentry to design, build, and finish quality furniture. Some are still developing their skills, while others are already working as capable craftsmen and teaching the new generation.

Andre’s heart is big time with this program to work with the boys, and get creative, for example, they make frames of wood from traditional Mauritian fishing boats, giving new life to materials shaped by the ocean while building skills, income, and purpose. How epic is that!

Salt Surfers

This program is run to mentor youngsters through surf, movement, and good times on the beach of Tamarin. It is a space where there is discipline, love, and a sense of belonging. And it is a real tool to connect with the kids and youth of the surrounding communities.

The heart behind the Salt Surfers is community and direction.

Girls Make Waves

Is a program close to Yvette’s heart; she meets on the beach with a few other swim coaches of Hope House to teach women how to swim and surf, which does lead to overcoming fear and growing in confidence in the water. The growth not only applies to their skill of swimming or surfing the training and mentorship also lead to confidence and belief into the daily lifes of this wonderful group of woman.

Roadside Roots

Transforming unused land into vegetable gardens. A simple but powerful step toward food security and self-reliance for local families.

Through the soil, hope is being restored, equipping people with new methods and the skills to grow their own food and build sustainable futures. Hope House does have green fingers and is not scared to find new pathways to farm in creative ways.

Help Andre and Yvette, and their team. Donate or share with others!

Thank you for believing in the work of Hope House!
