Our intern Crusoe at Groundswell Aid recently returned from an incredible week in Baja, Mexico, where he joined the Christian Surfers US crew for their annual Cold Water Campout and visited one of our newest partner projects — Aleph Baja.

This trip was truly a gift. It gave me a deeper appreciation for the work Groundswell Aid is supporting and showed me how God is using surfing to transform lives. Seeing what Dustin, Jess, and the Christian Surfers crew are doing in Baja and beyond reminded me once again: God is at work, and it’s such a privilege to be part of it.
What a trip! I just got back from an incredible week in Baja, Mexico, where I had the opportunity to join the Christian Surfers US crew for their annual Cold Water Campout and visit one of Groundswell Aid’s newest partner projects — Aleph Baja.
From the moment I set out, I could feel God’s steady hand guiding the entire journey. It was a week full of fun, adventure, and a bit of uncertainty, but God made a way for everything to fall into place.
The campout itself was such a blast! I met so many new people and got a fresh perspective on how God is moving through the surf communities of Southern California and Baja. I met believers who challenged my faith and inspired me deeply — people I know will be amazing connections as I continue this journey with Groundswell Aid.
Although the swell was solid all weekend, finding good waves was a real mission! It wasn’t until Dustin from Aleph Baja took me to his local beach break that we finally scored.
Dustin and Jess are such an incredible team. Their hospitality blew me away — from surf sessions and rock climbing adventures to sharing some of the best tacos of my life. Their heart for ministry is so clear in the way they live and love people. I saw the fruit of their work firsthand through a young man they’ve been mentoring. His generosity and servant-heartedness — offering me Mexican candy and homemade tortillas — spoke volumes about the impact Aleph Baja is having on the next generation.
