COVID-19 Update

Many of you will know that we as Groundswell Aid are raising money to support families in poverty struggling with issues caused by COVID-19.

Excitement and joy is flowing through our organization because we are so thankful to have raised USD$10,000 to help the communities in need from all over the world. These funds have been sent to projects in Indonesia, El Salvador, and South Africa.

Currently, we are in level 1 of our campaign, our focus is funding our projects to let them make and distribute these food parcels. We would love to update you soon on our next level and this will be to help the communities be more self-sustained.

Rote Island, Indonesia

Last week on Rote Island, the staff of Mercy Huts helped deliver food parcels that will help 50 families for one month. They used a house as a pick-up point and blessed the people of this community in need. For those who weren’t able to collect they hand them out. Even though the community is still in need this lovely woman and the community of Rote Island are wanting to say thanks!

El Tunco, El Salvador

In El Salvador, La Red and CS El Salvador are providing critical help to their community. La Red distributed 350 food parcels last week and is delivering with CS El Salvador another 400 this week. El Salvador is currently still in lockdown and they will be until the 16 of May.

The country is still in quarantine and the United Nations anticipates mass hunger and around 150,000 additional people will be living below the poverty line as a result. These are serious numbers.

Durban, South Africa

Willem, the project leader of South Beach Stoke ,is going into the communities of South Beach in Durban. They reach 50 families every week to bless them with food parcels. Besides the families, they also reach out to some homeless people at the beach where they do their Saturday surf lessons.

Lots of shakas from Willem and the South Beach Stoke crew.
