SOUTH BEACH STOKE

South Beach Stoke seeks to make a difference in the lives of the street kids and the lost in Durban, South Africa. They have been working in Durban for the last seven years.

Every Saturday morning they meet on South Beach, regardless of weather conditions. Before any activities, they share a Bible lesson and one of the leaders will bring a "Green Message", a lesson on the impact of pollution on the environment and fun facts about sea life. As a way to put into action what they are learning, they regularly run beach clean-ups to help the anti-litter initiative.

Over the years many children have given their lives to Jesus, and have been baptized and joined churches. Some have even brought their parents to church to be saved.

The hope is to take the crew surfing every Saturday but even when conditions are not right, they play soccer, touch-rugby, and ride skateboards with the kids.

When the surf lesson or other activity is finished South Beach Stoke provides a meal. For some of the children this is the only meal they will get on that day.

There is a core group of kids who have been engaged from the beginning and some that travel 80km from Ballito to join us each week. It is South Beach Stoke’s goal to walk alongside these young people until they are successful and independent.
